Blank Slate

I recently discovered this beat producer on social media named BLANK66, and spontaneously started singing this melody while watching her video. This kind of melodic color really takes me back, as I grew up listening to a lot of melodic hip hop, and deepened in my emotional musicality quite a lot in those teenage years.

Putting this tune together shined a light on something I’m really grateful for: the ability to hear an idea, clarify it, record it, refine it, and share it. I remember back then, hearing stuff like this in my head or beatboxing crude renditions of concepts I’d discover in improv sessions, while feeling like the prospect of bringing them to life and packaging them into a cleanly sharable medium was far out of reach.

The fact that I have a well-developed and efficient outlet to do so now, and that you guys are here for me to share them with, is really a true blessing, and quite surreal for me to step back and acknowledge 🙏💙
